Visaginas can be reached by train, bus or car from Vilnius in 2 to 2,5 hours.

Itinerary

Start

We meet near Visaginas municipality, then we head off to Kukuižė lake from which the most beautiful views of nature can be seen.

Hiking to the INPP control panel simulator

We go to visit the INPP control panel simulator. The simulator is a full-size replica of the real plant's Control Room. During the excursion the guide explains and shows you how to operate a nuclear reactor from the control panel. He tells us about what it's like to work in the Control Room and why the simulator was necessary at all.

Time to fill your stomach

After the simulator, we stop at the Karačiunka campsite for the delicious lunch made over the campfire and for the scrumptious herbal tea. This is the time to share our impressions with each other, do a photoshoot sitting around the campfire, sing songs, laugh and have a short rest.

Hiking through the Gražutė regional park

All happy after the rest we continue our route through Visaginas forests. A local guide will lead us along beautiful lakes and close to spongy swamps straight to Visaginas city.

Expect to hear about local flora and fauna and possibly spot some wildlife.

Finish

We take a final hiking stretch to the point where we started enjoying the excursion around Visaginas city. We discover more about the history, culture and modern life of Visaginas during our walking town tour.
