About This Adventure

Bring the wonders of wildlife to your school with Downtown Aquarium's Built for Survival outreach program! This engaging 30-minute presentation showcases five live Ambassador Animals, teaching students about adaptations, habitats, and conservation. With interactive Q&A sessions led by knowledgeable educators, this unique experience fosters a love for wildlife in grades K-8.

Bring the wildlife to your school or organization!

If your students love wildlife, they will love Downtown Aquarium's Built for Survival outreach program! This 30-minute auditorium–style presentation features five of our Ambassador Animals – animals who help us teach about wildlife, habitats, and conservation. Students will learn about animal adaptations, see those adaptions in action, and have a Q&A with our Educators. We bring the materials, knowledgeable experts, live animals, and all of the fun directly to you! Best suited for grades K-8.


Availability

  • 30-45 minutes per program session.
  • Offered Monday - Friday from 9:00AM – 4:00PM (based on staff availability). Weekends and evenings may be available based on staff availability. Please contact us to inquire about weekend or evening programs.
  • Eligible Locations: Locations within 45 miles of the Downtown Aquarium.
  • Maximum Students per Program Session: None (Based on your space.)
  • Limited to three programs total per day.
  • If booking multiple program sessions, there can be a maximum of 15 minutes between program start times.

Rates

  • $300 for the first program.
  • $180 (each) for second and third program. Additional programs must be booked for the same day at the same location.
  • Full payment for the program is due at the time of booking.
  • An online booking fee is added to the total.
  • If paying with a check, please contact us directly at (713) 315-5112 to book over the phone. Your reservation is not guaranteed without a confirmation email.

Policies

  • Outreaches are facilitated at schools, churches, daycares, libraries, and community centers only. We do not provide outreaches for private residences.
  • Can be presented in a gymnasium, library, classroom, auditorium, or other large space that accommodates your group size.
  • We prefer programs to be presented indoors. If your space is located outside, please have a backup indoor presentation area for the safety and well-being of our animals, who can be sensitive to temperature and weather.
  • For larger spaces, please provide a microphone or headset.
  • Cannot be presented in a classroom with other animals such as classroom pets.
  • We are unable to guarantee specific animals for your program, but we will do our best to accommodate requests.
  • Outreach program cancellations must be made at least one week in advance in order to receive a full refund. Cancellation must be requested in writing at AquariumHouston@Ldry.com
  • Cancellations made with less than one week's notice will receive a refund minus a $100 cancellation fee.
  • The Downtown Aquarium reserves the right to end any program early if participants do not follow program guidelines or are not being respectful to the staff or animals.
