Experience an unforgettable 15-minute encounter with Ragen, the hand-raised Southern Boobook Owl, and Barkley, the Tawny Frogmouth. Get close, feed them their favorite treats, and learn about their unique adaptations. This intimate wildlife experience is perfect for animal lovers aged 6 and up, offering a rare glimpse into their fascinating world.

Get up close and personal with Ragen our hand-raised Australian Boobook Owl, Barkley the Tawny Frogmouth and Athena the Lesser Sooty Owl. Australian Boobook Owl’s are Australia’s smallest owl species. Ragen was hand-raised from just a few hours old! Feel his amazingly soft feathers, feel the strength of his talons. Hand feed him his favourite treat, mealworms!
You will also get to meet one of our amazing Tawny Frogmouths. Learn about their amazing camouflage skills and their adaptations for catching flying insects. Feed them a special treat!
As the majority of the exhibits our outdoors, you should dress for the weather. There will be no refunds or rain checks due to inclement weather, animals resting or animals sleeping, or the closure of any exhibits/animals off display. Suitable footwear must be worn during the encounter.
Ranger Red's Zoo & Conservation Park is a family friendly wildlife park. Our facilities include plenty of shaded areas to sit and enjoy your morning tea, lunch, or afternoon snack. The tracks through Ranger Red's Zoo & Conservation Park are all paved. In other words, they are wheel chair and walking frame friendly. What's more, the Zoo is compact and dense with exhibits, so it's very easy to see a lot, in a short space of time. On the day of your encounter, an animal encounter booking form will be presented to you with a list of terms and conditions. This form must be signed prior to your encounter.
Getting there a few minutes before your scheduled encounter ensures a relaxed start and better interaction time.
Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes since the experience takes place outdoors in a natural setting.
A small flashlight can help navigate the area at night and make it easier to see the birds up close.
Follow all instructions from staff and maintain a calm demeanor to ensure a positive experience for the animals.
