Enhance your adventure with our educational programs!

Built for Survival Show at 10:00am If you and your children love wildlife, then you will love our Built for Survival Animal Presentation! This 30-minute auditorium–style program features five of our Ambassador Animals – animals who help us teach about wildlife, habitats, and conservation. Participants will learn about animal adaptations and how they help animals survive in the wild! This program includes live animal appearances! Appropriate for Ages 2+; space is limited.

Riveting Reptiles Program at 11:00am There are more than 10,000 species of reptiles in the world and scientists discover almost 100 more every year! Reptiles are found in rainforests, deserts, and even your own backyard. In this program, students learn about the different types of reptiles and meet live reptiles up close! Appropriate for Ages 6-12; space is limited.

The Web of Life Program at 12:00pm: In this program, students learn all about food webs and how energy flows through an ecosystem from producers to consumers to decomposers. Students will work together to create a model of a rainforest food web so they can see how all life is connected. Appropriate for Ages 6-12; space is limited.

Fishy Anatomy at 1:30pm Great for science students interested in anatomy and physiology! This dissection teaches lab safety, dissection terminology, and both external and internal anatomy features of fish. Students will learn how different fins help fish swim, how fish ‘breathe’ underwater, and how to tell males from females! this is a hands-on dissection led by our knowledgeable Educators. Appropriate for ages 6 – 17; space is limited.

Squidy Anatomy at 2:30pm: There are roughly 300 species of squid dwelling in the ocean’s vast, deep waters – the largest weighing up to 1,000 pounds! In this program, aspiring young marine biologists learn all about squid and their amazing adaptations with an engaging, hands-on dissection led by our knowledgeable Educators. Appropriate for ages 6 – 17; space is limited.

Know Before You Go

  • Online ticket reservations are required for Homeschool Day; discounted admission and educational programs will not be available for purchase at the ticket booth on the day of.
  • Your reserved tickets will be available for pick up between 9:45am and 1:00pm at the Education Ticket Booth.
  • The Aquarium will be open from 10:00am until 8:30pm on Homeschool Day. Your wristbands will grant you access for the entire day.
  • The Aquarium Restaurant on the 2nd floor will open at 11:00am. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are encouraged and can be made online or by calling (713) 223-3474.
  • The Reef Refreshment concession stand will also be open, serving items such as hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, snacks, and drinks.
  • Please click HERE for current parking rates and other great information for your visit.
  • Our new parking system only accepts card, no cash.
  • Valet parking is not available until 11:00am.
  • Amusement rides are subject to closure due to inclement weather, including high winds and lightning. Refunds and rain checks will not be issued due to inclement weather.
