About

About 30 kms from Broken Hill is Silverton, a ghost town now, but once a thriving mining enterprise. Over the years the town has gained notoriety with the filming of great movies such as Mad Max 2, Razorback, Town Like Alice, Dirty Deeds as well as numerous commercials.

We visit the Mundi Mundi Plains, the Umberumberka Reservoir and the Old Silverton Gaol Museum which has one of the best collections of yesteryear seen anywhere in Australia.

We have a look at the old Silverton School where Mary Jane Gilmore (THE LADY ON THE $10.00 NOTE) taught.

Visit the gallery of John Dynon and the Horizon Gallery. Inspect the Coin Cavery, visit Beyond 39 Dip and have a bite to eat or a coldie at the Silverton Hotel. Here you will see photos of actors from the films and the different names the hotel became during the shooting of these movies.

Then we head home to Broken Hill in time for a rest or another tour.

Entry Fees will apply for Silverton Gaol and School.
