Sun slices between serrated towers as your guide leads a single-file climb from Xiangshuihu toward the Beijing Knot—the high point where the wall tightens on the skyline. The first 45 minutes push through mixed scrub and switchbacks before you meet the wall’s unrestored stone, where uneven steps and fractured battlements set the pace for the day.

High level of cardiovascular fitness and sure-footedness; regular hikers comfortable on steep, uneven terrain should be prepared for sustained effort.
The route is physically demanding with sections of steep climbing and scrambling; expect 4–6 hours on uneven, unrestored wall sections—good fitness and hiking experience are required.
No ropes or technical climbing gear are needed, but you should be comfortable scrambling; the guide provides safe routing and ladders exist at a couple of points.
