Dawn thins the fog over Whitefield Moor and the moorland breathes: ponies lift their heads, a chiffchaff calls, and small feet find soft, springy turf. A family walk here moves deliberately — slow enough for explanations, fast enough to keep restless kids curious — with guides pointing out fungus rings, heathland flowers, and tracks left by deer and ponies.

The New Forest was designated by William the Conqueror as royal hunting land; centuries of common grazing shaped the open heaths and tracks you walk today.
The area relies on low-intensity grazing and visitor care; stick to paths, close gates, and never feed ponies to reduce human impact.
Wild New Forest operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
