About This Adventure

Embark on a unique journey at Glengoyne Distillery with a guided tour showcasing its rich history, followed by an exclusive hands-on experience in the Sample Room. Step into the shoes of a Malt Master, crafting your own bespoke Highland Single Malt from carefully selected cask whiskies, resulting in a one-of-a-kind creation.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

A guided tour of parts of Glengoyne Distillery followed by extra special hands on experience in our Sample Room, where you'll take on the role of the Malt Master and create your very own bottle of Highland Single Malt from single cask whiskies specially chosen from our warehouse.

Highlights:

The experience starts with a tour of the distillery, including the old cooperage and the infamous No.1 warehouse. This is a chance for our Distillery Ambassadors to share their knowledge of our unhurried ‘Glengoyne Way’.

Then it gets extra special – you create your own single malt in the Sample Room of the Distillery Manager's House.

Displayed before you will be a selection of cask strength whiskies hand-selected from the Glengoyne warehouse. You’ll see the difference in colour immediately; between the American oak and European, and between the previous fill of sherry or bourbon. A taste of each, and you assume the role of the Malt Master straight away; adding a little from a bourbon cask here, bringing out a touch more sherry wood there.

Like a true Malt Master, you’ll taste and tinker your way to a unique cask strength, un-chillfiltered Glengoyne Highland Single Malt. It’s a one-off creation, presented to you in a 200ml Glengoyne bottle with a record of your recipe.

You cannot book this experience anywhere else in Scotland.

Important to Know

  • Between 25th June and 1st August 2025 our still house will be closed for planned maintenance and access to this area won’t be included in your tour. During this time the Malt Master experience will still include a tour of the No.1 warehouse, and you’ll spend longer in the Sample Room. The Sample Room experience will be enhanced to include a nosing of Glengoyne New Make Spirit, and a tutored tasting of bourbon and sherry.
