Free Afterschool Club Ages 13-17
This is a 9-week session September 23 - November 20. To register, click on September 23 (the start date), and complete the form! This registers your child(ren) for the whole session of afterschool (Tuesdays and Thursdays through November 20).
WTA provides the opportunity for young teens to become leaders in our programs, working alongside Instructors, in a structured, participant-focused program.
This program is designed for teens ages 13-17 who have previously participated in our programs. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and respectful role model who has a passion for and some experience in activities on the water, and an affinity for sharing their knowledge with others!
Academy participants will spend their afternoons with us, learning waterfront and group management training!
This is a great opportunity to gain skills and experience for those interested in working in a waterfront role in the future! Thousands of summer programs, and sailing and community boating centers are looking to hire young instructors with sailing and/or waterfront experience. This program will give participants a head start in training and certification to fill those roles! Participants will also have the opportunity to practice teaching the skills they've learned to groups of younger participants in our other afterschool clubs.

This program is free participants, and snacks are provided each day.

Bring layered clothing suitable for cool autumn afternoons on the water, as conditions in September through November can shift rapidly.
Participants should have prior involvement with boating or paddle sports to thrive in this advanced training environment.
Even though snacks are provided, remind participants to drink water regularly during active afternoons outdoors.
Pay close attention to safety and group management lessons as these are key to becoming a successful waterfront leader.
