Description

The first portion of our combination tour begins with our guides outfitting you with personal protective gear and equipment for your first activity. After getting you fitted to your kayak or bike, we'll give you a short safety briefing before we embark. Each experience has its own unique features for you to enjoy. Relax on the turquoise-blue water in a kayak while taking in surrounding mountains and listening to the breeze. Either hike to the Twin Peaks overlook, where above the tree line you have panoramic views of Eklutna Lake or take a relaxing nature walk while learning about the area through the lens of a naturalist. Biking along the Lakeside Trail is an adventurous way to enjoy both fantastic lakeside and wildlife viewing opportunities.

After we finish the first activity we will head back to the picnic area, where your guide will prepare lunch and refreshments for you to enjoy and refuel. After we eat lunch, we will head out to begin the second activity of the day. This is a great relaxing way to spend a few hours in the Alaskan wilderness and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Experience Suggestions

Minimal experience kayaking, biking, or hiking can help, but is not required. If kayaking, you should have decent balance and be comfortable in an open-water environment. If biking, you should be able to ride a bike and feel comfortable in various weather conditions with possible muddy and slippery trails. Hiking Some parts of the trail are steep and hilly, placing additional stress on areas of the body not impacted by level terrain. Not recommended for those with cardiac or respiratory issues/illness. May be difficult for those with joint issues.

Adventure Tips

Wear layered clothing

The weather near Eklutna Lake can shift quickly; layering helps manage changing temperatures on water and trails.

Bring waterproof gear

Kayaking and hiking near the lake can include water splashes and morning dew, so waterproof jackets and bags protect your gear.

Be mindful of wildlife

Keep a safe distance from moose and eagles, and avoid disturbing nesting sites for responsible wildlife encounters.

Fuel up adequately

Carry snacks and hydrate well during activities; the included lunch helps, but energy demands vary with chosen adventures.
