About

As the most popular course, the Open Water scuba certification is the beginning of your diving adventures. The course teaches you all the basics necessary to make you a safe, competent diver. Upon completion of the Open Water course, you are able to dive up to 60ft in depth without the presence of a dive professional. You will also be eligible to rent/buy your own gear and dive with your certified diver friends.

More Info

The course is broken up into three sections. Courses can be completed with time frames ranging from four partial days to multiple weeks or more, depending on scheduling and performance. A specific schedule will be developed on a per-student basis. When booking, please select the desired date for UnderWatters to contact you about course details and scheduling.

Knowledge Development: You will complete eLearning training materials prior to getting in the water that can be completed whenever your schedule allows. The material will cover basic dive theory, safety procedures, equipment, and skills that you will use throughout your course.

Confined Water: This portion takes place in a local pool with clear water and shallow depths. You will become familiar with your gear for the first time and perform a wide range of basic scuba skills such as clearing your mask, entering and exiting the water, buoyancy control, emergency procedures, and more. Under the close supervision of your instructor, you will demonstrate an understanding of all required skills until you’re comfortable and ready to move on to ocean dives.

Ocean Dives: Once you’ve completed your basic skills in the pool, the next portion is the ocean dive where you will expand on what you learned in the pool while enjoying the local environment. You will gain better understanding of buoyancy control, navigation, and safe dive procedures and planning in an open ocean environment.

Upon completion of the Open Water course, you are able to dive up to 60ft in depth without the presence of a dive professional. You will also be eligible to rent/buy your own gear and dive with your certified diver friends!
