The Centerpiece of Clearwater’s Education Programs

Duration: 2.5 Hours

Program Overview: Clearwater’s shipboard education program provides students (grades 4 and up) with a hands-on, inquiry-based learning experience aboard a tall sailing ship on the Hudson River. Students engage in activities like raising the mainsail, studying Hudson River life, conducting water quality tests, exploring indigenous history, and helping to navigate the ship. They work as a team to haul in fishing lines, sing sea shanties, and investigate the river’s rich ecosystem.

Clearwater’s award-winning environmental education programs align with NYS learning standards, making them an enriching complement to classroom lessons. Through these programs, students are encouraged to become the next generation of environmental stewards.
