We have a variety of rental options! Please note that our rentals are by calendar day and not 24 hour period. Each rental includes boat(s), paddling equipment, and cartopping equipment. Every person who will be using a boat is required to sign a release of liability and participate in a basic safety talk provided by a member of the SRCO Staff. The person responsible for the reservation will be required to read and sign our damage and return policy document.
Kevlar: Lightweight. This option is good for lake to lake trips with portages. We suggest Kevlar canoes for most overnight trips in the area.
T-Formex: Durable but heavier. This option is good for anyone who is looking to save a bit of money, but doesn't mind having extra weight. This option is not recommended for trips with long portages. It is a good option if you plan to be in moving water or encounter obstacles (beaver dams).
Kayak: We generally recommend kayaks only for day trips or specific overnights. The overnight paddling routes in the Adirondacks generally require portaging, which is not enjoyable with a kayak. Our kayaks are recreational, and do not have a ton of storage space for overnight gear.
Pack Boat: These are great for people who prefer to kayak, but need to be able to portage. These are open boats (like a canoe) which are paddled with a kayak paddle. They are extraordinarily light, making them a fantastic option for solo paddlers on overnight trips. Please note that the Wee Lassies have a lower weight capacity than the Placid Boatworks boats.
If you are not sure which type of boat to book, we would be happy to talk it through with you. We want to be sure you have the best time possible!
