The Rangitaiki Grade 2 scenic trip is an extraordinary adventure for the whole family (ages 5 and up) and those wanting time on the water to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
The expedition starts at the base of Aniwhenua Falls in the lower Rangitaiki River. Spend 1.5 hours on the water as you paddle past cascading waterfalls, lush native forest and through the striking rock gorge. There are some fun rapids but they are nice rolling wave trains without many obstacles to avoid, so you get the fun without the technical difficulty – it’s the best of both worlds!
A picnic style lunch is included. You need to allow around 4 hours from the start time at the Murupara Motor Camp (5 - 5 1/2 including Rotorua transfers) to get all the gear on, transfers from theMotor camp to the river and back, safety training, river time of approximately 1.5 hours and lunch.
You don’t need rafting experience for this one but you do need to be able to get down the rock step formations to start the journey.
Enjoy an epic family adventure on the river.
