About

Perfect for a morning excursion, our half-day Redwoods by River kayak or raft trip gives you a taste of exploring ancient trees by boat and enjoying the pristine waters of the Smith River with enough time left in your day for other activities, relaxation, or getting back on the road.

The half-day lower section of the Redwoods by River tour starts right next to old-growth redwoods and a fun, easy rapid at Society Hole river access and continues to feature ancient redwood trees for the next three miles.

At five miles, the lower section is longer than the 3.5-mile Stout section above and feels more remote as the river winds further away from houses for a couple miles, although you may spot some visitors having a picnic, swimming or cliff-jumping in the many beautiful swimming holes. The river maintains a nice pace of class 1 to 2 rapids, including Walker rock and Peacock rapid, interspersed with calm, flat pools.

We typically have a 2-person minimum for our tours but can sometimes add solo adventurers to other trips or one-on-one with a guide for a surcharge. Call to inquire.
