Experience the enchanting Sunset Tour at Manitoga, where design meets nature. Explore Russel Wright's unique home and gardens, savor wine and charcuterie, and engage with fellow enthusiasts as you bask in breathtaking sunset views over the Quarry Pool. This immersive journey combines art, history, and stunning landscapes for an unforgettable evening.
Visit MANITOGA, the House, Studio and Woodland Garden of pioneer industrial designer, Russel Wright (1904-1976) and his family. Experience Dragon Rock, Wright's experimental home which he built onto the rock ledge of an abandoned quarry while masterfully orchestrating the surrounding landscape into a series of outdoor rooms of varying character and delight. The Sunset at Dragon Rock experience is offered only a few times per season, providing a relaxed yet immersive tour experience, complete with refreshments.

Enjoy a late afternoon in-depth tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden. Then soak up the majestic sunset with a glass of wine and conversation with other design enthusiasts on Dragon Rock's terraces, overlooking the Quarry Pool.

All Sunset Tours include the The Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery at Manitoga, featuring over 200 objects from the Wrights’ ground-breaking designs for the American home, opened May 2021 with lead support from the Henry Luce Foundation.
PLEASE NOTE - All tour programs include a moderate hike through the landscape to arrive at the House & Studio. Visitors must ascend a 40-step stone stair with handrail.

Sunset Tours generally last 2 hours and are conducted rain or shine. Times vary with the season. Please wear flat, outdoor-terrain walking shoes for uneven ground and dress appropriately for being outside in the weather.
Insect/tick repellent and drinking water are highly recommended. Picnic tables are available in the Meadow adjacent to the public parking lot, should you wish to picnic before or after your tour. Manitoga’s hiking trails are open daily from dawn to dusk and are accessible from the same parking lot.
Pets, backpacks, large purses and bags, tripods, cumbersome camera equipment, extension poles and selfie-sticks are not permitted.
Getting to the tour site at least 30 minutes before sunset ensures optimal lighting and fewer crowds.
Evening temperatures can drop; wearing layers keeps you comfortable while enjoying the outdoor scenery.
