About the Program:

Dive into a world of exploration with Woebegone Ocean School in Jervis Bay, where learning, laughter, and play merge into an unforgettable experience. Our program is designed to empower kids by enhancing their confidence in the water and beyond, structured around four key pillars of knowledge: Freediving, Yoga/Meditation, Breathwork, and Ocean Awareness.

Ocean School is more than just a class; it's an introduction to a lifelong relationship with the sea. Our curriculum focuses on building ocean confidence, safety, and awareness, with practical swimming skills that progress to the use of masks, snorkels, and fins. Students will learn the essentials of safe breath-holding and duck diving, unlocking the wonders of the underwater realm.

Classes are set against the stunning backdrop of Jervis Bay's protected shallow bays, providing a safe and beautiful outdoor classroom. Our comprehensive coverage includes topics like freediving basics, the critical role of buddy safety, the impact of plastic pollution, understanding shark behaviour, marine mammals, the significance of seaweed, the Great Southern Reef, fish identification, and behaviour.

Equipment:

All necessary gear can be provided, featuring premium kids snorkelling equipment, including a warm 5mm full-length wetsuit, mask/snorkel, and fins. We also offer top-notch dive equipment for purchase, proven effective and durable by our students—perfect for South Coast adventures. Inquire about gear purchases for your child. Ocean School 2025 Details:

When: Term 4, starting week of 13th October 2025, running for 8 weeks.

Weather Policy: Classes proceed when raining. Extreme weather conditions will prompt an indoor lesson.
