From the history of the Killaloe Canal and the Shannon Scheme of 1929, we cruise towards where Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, kept watch over the river crossing at Beal Boru. Cruising into the calm waters of Lough Derg, sheltered by the Slieve Bernagh and Arra Mountains, the panoramic view is spectacular.

Our boat is suitable for passengers of all ages and is purpose built to maximise your view to make your cruise on Ireland’s greatest river more memorable and enjoyable. Cruising down the Shannon is a wonderful and calming experience.

  • Yes we have an access ramp. The maximum width - we can accommodate is 60cm or 2 foot wide.

  • Yes, dogs are welcome on board.

Do you cruise if it is raining?

  • Yes. Our lower deck is fully enclosed with spacious seating for all passengers. We always dry the seats upstairs if there is a brief shower of rain.

Meeting Point

We depart from Lakeside Drive Ballina which is across the bridge from Killaloe County Clare. There is free parking available. You will find us on Google Maps or use this Eircode V94 A402. Please arrive 10 minutes before departure time

Terms of Service

An online booking is required, you will receive a booking id that you can display on your phone when boarding. It is necessary to arrive at the quay 10 minutes before departure time. Killaloe River Cruises cruise daily, weather permitting.

Please present your ticket on your mobile device as you board, it is not necessary to provide a printed ticket. Once purchased the date for which a ticket has been purchased cannot be changed.

Please ensure your tickets are purchased for the correct number of adults/children/seniors. Killaloe River Cruises reserve the right to charge the appropriate entry fee to anyone who cannot validate their ticket.

For scheduled sailings refunds are only available if a cruise is cancelled by the provider.

For private charter a cancellation fee equal to the amount of the deposit paid applies to all cancelled bookings.

Management reserves the right to refuse admission. Carry on alcohol/food are not allowed on board. Stag and Hen parties are not catered for and will not be accommodated.
