This is the one adventure you should not miss while visiting Puerto Rico. Experience relaxation at one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico, Sun Bay Beach, have dinner and walk by the amazing Malecon at Esperanza, and then Paddle on a Clear Bottom Kayak through the mystical mangrove channels and feel the adventure as you explore the captivating glowing water of Mosquito Bay.

Guided trip into one of the most amazing natural phenomena of the world with our tandem CLEAR BOTTOM KAYAK! The adventure to Puerto Mosquito can only be described as magical.

*The beach stop on the itinerary will be Sunbay or Esperanza Beach depending on weather conditions and timing on the itinerary.

The beach stop on the itinerary will be Sunbay or Esperanza Beach depending on weather conditions and timing on the itinerary.

We arrive back in San Juan around 11:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday tours, and at 11:45 pm on Monday - Friday tours.

What to Wear:

  • Suggested clothing: long-sleeved top (the bay gets chilly on certain months of the year), shorts, flip-flops, Crocs, and clothes that can get wet

  • 12:40 pm Departure from San Juan to Ceiba Ferry Terminal.
  • Ground Transportation Travel time to Ceiba Ferry Terminal is 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  • 2:00 pm Ferry Check-in
  • 3:00 pm Ferry Departure to Vieques
  • Ferry Ride to Vieques is 45-60 minutes.
  • Visit Sunbay or Esperanza Beach
  • Visit El Malenco for dinner or walk
  • 6:40 pm Bio Bay Tour Check-in
  • 9:00 pm Ferry return check-in
  • 9:30 pm Ferry departure to Ceiba
  • 10:35 pm Ferry arrives at Ceiba
  • We arrive back in San Juan around 11:45 pm

IMPORTANT:

  • In compliance with DRNA regulations, there are no tours of the Biobay in Vieques the day before the full moon, the day of the full moon, and the day after the full moon each month.

  • Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year-round. All natural ecosystems are dynamic, and their conditions can vary. Puerto Mosquito is known as a bright and stable bioluminescent bay, but the intensity of the glow may fluctuate due to natural changes beyond our control. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary. Most important – the glow is always there! ENJOY THE SHOW!

HEALTH & AGE RESTRICTIONS

  • First-timer's kayakers are welcome. Most of our clients are first-time kayakers, so we provide you with a briefing about how to kayak prior to the excursion.
    ​ Not recommended guests with:

  • Pregnant women 6 months or more

  • Age requirement: 4+

  • Epilepsy

  • Heart conditions

  • Dizziness

  • Recent surgery.

Ferry & Schedule Notice

We do not provide private maritime transportation to Vieques. The tickets included in our Vieques Ferry Package are for the public ferry. The Puerto Rico Maritime Transportation Authority (PRMTA) operates this ferry. We are not affiliated with the PRMTA. Therefore, we are not responsible nor can control the ferry schedule in any way.

Our company promotes a 3:00 pm departure to Vieques from Ceiba, in the event we receive tickets for a later departure you will be notified in advance and/or on-site. Your group will be offered the option to confirm an excursion with a later departure, reschedule to another day, reschedule to another excursion, or cancel with a full refund. ​ For this reason, we must be at the Ceiba Ferry Terminal at check-in time. Otherwise, you may miss the ferry. In that case, you will not be able to get to Vieques on time for the tour. Finally, the excursion start time is subject to the arrival time of the ferry to Vieques.
