About

Located in the heart of Alpena, our kayak and canoe rentals offer an escape into the natural world without ever having to leave town. Thunder Bay River wraps around the 17-acre Island Park, offering wildlife galore and hours of paddling enjoyment for the entire family. View painted turtles sunning on logs, ducks, egrets nesting, swans, Great Blue Heron and even otters swimming across the river. The calm, low current area of the river is perfect for all ability levels. A specialized platform at Duck Park makes launching and docking the boats a breeze.

Duck Park is connected to Island Park by a beautiful hand-hewn timber, covered bridge. Feel free to walk the trails on the island before or after your paddle. Find our kayak and canoe rental located at this unique park on the corner of Chisholm (US-23) and Long Rapids Road, the driveway to access the parking lot is accessible from Long Rapids Road.
