About

  • Departure towards the Guincho beach located between two rocky points, the high point and the tip of the fan, has a large areal extension, both in length and in width. Of clear, sparkling water, Guincho beach is considered one of the largest beaches in the country, with a high influx of vacationers, its a part of the Natural Park Sintra-Cascais. It is also sought after by practitioners of Surf, Windsurf, and Kitesurf, where world championships these same procedures are performed.
  • The Sintra hills and dunes provide a landscaped framework internationally recognized. Due to wind action, the beach faces the south with the dune system "Black-Cresmina" of great geological dynamism. We can see various types of dunes on this beach: embryonic shifting dunes, which represent the first stages of dune vegetation; the white dunes, which form the sand bars closer to the sea; and even the gray dunes, less dense lively and abundant lichens, and mosses carpets.
  • After a brief break, we follow towards the Cape of Roca Lighthouse, located at the westernmost point of Europe "... where the land ends and the sea begins". It’s an extraordinary place with the waves kicking tens of meters below the high cliffs which are the lighthouse and gazebo. The lighthouse began construction in 1758, although it only started operating in 1772.
