Morning light eases over Gansbaai as the Ivanhoe slips from the harbor and the cliffs of De Kelders slide astern. The sea here changes color by the mile — steel, turquoise, then an inky blue — and the bay seems to dare you to look farther. For two focused hours, the Big 5 Sea Safari hunts the pulse of Walker Bay: southern right whales, playful dolphin pods, Cape fur seals, African penguins and colonies of marine birds.
