Join an exciting historical walk along the shores of Lake Vallentuna in 5 hours with an authorized Runriket guide and pilgrimage guide. Learn runic writing and discover many beautiful and exciting historical views. If you do not know the background to the Swedish mile, you will learn it at the end of the walk.
The walk starts with Jarlabanke's bridge and the great men of the Viking Age. It then goes via Täby church's fantastic late medieval Albertus Pictor paintings and near the water to Arkils Tingstad and ends at Vallentuna church. During the walk you will hear exciting stories about everything from slavery, Viking victims, powerful nobles and experience fantastic medieval churches and discover what is hidden behind, and in, the walls.
The walk is an exciting collaborative project with Vallentuna-based Sweden History Tours (Stockholm's own time machine) which offers private and public guided tours, ghost walks and theme walks for families, individuals, groups and companies about the Viking Age, dark folklore as well as other exciting history-themes in Stockholm, Uppsala, Sigtuna and Vallentuna. Ghost walks, online guided tours and transported tours with your own car are also offered through the company.
Starting point: Jarlabanke's bridge. Bring good shoes, water bottle, clothes according to the weather and a lunch bag.
Starting point and end point for today's walk is easy to get to and from, using public transportation: Bus 610 or 611 (the latter only to the starting point) from Danderyds Sjukhus, 45min, bus 524 to Upplands Väsby 40min. Stop Jarlabanke's bridge. Train from T-centralen towards Vallentuna, Kårsta or Ormsta, 35min + 8-10min walk from Täby kyrkby station.
