The Trip: It is an exploration trip in 4 sq.km. Cape Greko park. The trip is offered year round, and can be customised extensively. In summer, the focus is on sea exploration, swimming and snorkelling and hopefully sea turtle spotting. We can if we like include more walking, such as the 1.4 km Agioi Anargyroi - Konnos beach coastal trail (depending on time availability).
Pickup time (if travellers would like a free ride in our private car): To be agreed with the travellers. 09:15 between September and mid June, otherwise 09:00. Pickup location : (possible free ride) At an agreed place (eg hotel, etc) in Protaras or Ayia Napa.
Itinerary : The trip is all about exploring the small park of Cape Greko, tacked between the busy (in summer) resorts of Agia Napa and Protaras. It is largely rocky (limestone) and has a number of beautiful natural attractions such as at least two Sea Cave coves/complexes. Cape Greko Rock can be seen from a far distance along the coast. The waters along the east coast are usually very calm whereas along the south coast it may get a bit rough after the early morning. The sea is excellent for swimming as well as for snorkelling and spotting many species of marine life, including, possibly Green turtles during the hot season. Konnos beach is one of the best on the island and beyond.
Usually we walk from Konnos beach on a circular route that it is ten km long. A trip is customisable.
We are merely making recommendations for a trip. Agia Napa Sea Cave Complex, Cape Greko Sea Complex, Cape Greko Rock, Agioi Anargyroi chapel and Sea Cave and Konnos beach are must see attractions. The trip can be customised extensively, subject to travellers' preferences and characteristics as well as the season. In the hot season we do recommend to limit walking to the bear essentials, but nevertheless include the short 1.4 km (each way) coastal walking route from Agioi Anargyroi chapel to Konnos beach. Snorkeling is highly recommended year round, but from November until April a wetsuit (3 mm) may be necessary.
Transportation : The package doesnot include transportation. If travellers are interested, as a rule the guide is able to offer them a free ride in the company's private car, from Ayia Napa or Protaras. Guiding time begins at the time of meeting with the guide.
Guiding the walks.
Food & drinks Transportation (the guide may offer participants a free ride. This is not a taxi service and the vehicle holds a private car insurance)
As a rule, unless other arrangements are agreed beforehand, the trip is guided by Phivos, either in the English or the Greek language. Phivos also speaks good German, good Spanish, elementary French and elementary Mandarin.
It is always good to bring along water to trips (though we will have possibilities to buy if required at one of the communities that we pass by/through). Good shoes for walking, or sports sandals are required as well as sun protection, especially during warm seasons. Of course swimming suit, towel (especially if we provide a free ride), possibly slippers, snorkelling equipment if we decide to snorkel.
The trail includes rocky sections and uneven terrain, so proper footwear ensures safety and comfort.
The Mediterranean sun can be intense, so hats, sunscreen, and plenty of water keep you cool and hydrated.
Bring your own or rent gear locally to enhance your underwater experience at the sea caves and beaches.
Tide times influence snorkeling and swimming spots, so plan accordingly for the best conditions.
Cape Greko has been a strategic site since ancient times, with mythological ties and historical naval significance.
Efforts focus on preserving the marine habitats and protecting the nesting sites of sea turtles, maintaining this fragile coastal ecosystem.
