The ferry grinds into Matiatia Bay and the island's perfume — brine, pohutukawa sap, and cut grass from the vineyards — hits you before your feet touch land. Your guide stands to the left as you step off the ferry, sign in hand, ready to shape five hours of walking to whatever you want: a shoreline ramble watching waves push at the rocks, a slow art walk through artist studios, or a wellbeing amble that ends with a long-lunch among olive trees.

Most walks meet at Matiatia ferry terminal; the guide will stand on the left as you exit the ferry. Tours may finish back at the terminal or at a pre-arranged spot on the island.
