The morning drive along Oman's eastern coast opens like a slow reveal: a hard limestone ridge gives way to glittering inlets, and the air tastes of salt and sun-warmed rock. At the Sink Hole you step down to water the color of a jewel, then continue to Wadi Shab where a narrow gorge funnels you toward pools, waterfalls and a sea-carved cave that seems to glow from within.

Yes — short swims through pools are part of the route and reaching the cave requires entering the water.
Non-swimmers can still enjoy the Sink Hole and Wadi Tiwi, but reaching the cave is not recommended without basic swimming ability or a guide’s assistance.

Wadi communities have long used falaj irrigation systems to support date palms and small plantations; the shaded terraces you see reflect that traditional agriculture.
