Wildlife

History

The region was traversed by Bedouin and camel caravans; modern safaris draw on that heritage with camp rituals like storytelling, henna, and traditional music.

Conservation

Stick to designated tracks and follow guide instructions—off-road driving can destabilize dunes and disturb wildlife; pack out litter and use camp facilities for waste.

Adventure tips

Hydrate before and during the tripDesert heat and activity dehydrate quickly—drink water before pickup and use provided bottles liberally at camp.

Secure loose items for dune bashing and quad ridesSunglasses, phones, and scarves can blow away—use straps or zip pockets and stow cameras between runs.

Wear closed-toe shoes with gripLoose sand hides sharp shells and rocks; sneakers or light hiking shoes give traction for sandboarding and walking dunes.

Time visits for sunsetThe best photos and cooler temperatures arrive in the hour before sunset—plan to be on the dune crest for the golden light.

Recommended gear

Closed-toe shoes: Protects feet from hot sand and provides traction while walking dunes and boarding.
Sunglasses with strap: Cuts glare and prevents dust-driven eye irritation during rides and at sunset.
Broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+): Essential in the exposed desert environment to prevent sunburn during late afternoon activities.
Light windproof layer: Evenings can be cool; a lightweight jacket blocks wind during post-sunset camp performances.
