About This Adventure

Embark on a unique chocolate journey at Honokaa Chocolate, Hawaii's only commercial cacao farm. Enjoy a guided tour of the cacao orchard, learn about the chocolate-making process, and savor five award-winning chocolates. Experience chocolate tasting like a connoisseur while discovering its rich history and health benefits in a beautiful setting.

Chocolate Tasting

**Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

An introduction to fine chocolate Our goal during the guided tour and chocolate tasting is to change the way you think about chocolate, from where you purchase it to how you consume it. Hawaii is the only state where cacao is grown commercially, and Honokaa Chocolate is a great place to experience a real cacao tree orchard and to taste world-class fine chocolates. If you’ve never sampled world-class craft chocolate, you’re in for a treat.

Farm Tour The first part of our 1.5 hour guided tour includes a trip to our orchard where we’ll teach you everything we know about cacao, including growing the trees, harvesting, fermentation, and the drying of cacao beans.

Chocolate Tasting After the tour of our cacao orchard, we’ll venture up to our covered lanai and tasting area and we’ll open a ripe cacao pod and taste fresh cacao fruit. You’ll enjoy an extensive chocolate tasting with five of our current award-winning product offerings. Similar to a wine tasting, we’ll teach you how to taste chocolate like a connoisseur. You’ll also learn chocolate’s rich history, its health benefits (it’s a superfood!), the entire chocolate making process from roasting to tempering, and finally, we’ll take a close look at the global industry of cacao and chocolate and how it relates to Hawaii.

We end our tour at our downtown store so that you can see our production area and machines, and of course, purchase our products.

Family-Friendly Options Starting May 13, our tasting bar at the farm will be open by reservation for 45 minute guided chocolate tastings, or you can visit our downtown store between 11am and 4pm every day.
