About the Tour

Mid-Continent Railway Museum has a nationally-renowned, award-winning wooden car restoration program. While all museum visitors can see the beautiful restorations from the Coach Shed viewing platforms alongside the cars, much of the fine craftsmanship can only be appreciated from within the railcars. For one weekend each year, museum visitors have an opportunity to enjoy special access inside the award-winning restorations.


Included with This Ticket

  • Admission to the museum display buildings.
  • Guided (walking) tours inside selected train cars within the museum plus a tour of the Car Shop building where the train car restorations occur.

Duration

It is suggested to allow 60 to 90 minutes for the guided tour. Tours are self-paced. Tour guides are stationed in each of the featured cars and will have a short presentation. From there, you can stay and ask questions or move on to the next tour checkpoint at your own pace.

Tour Times

Tours begin being offered at 10 AM and conclude at 5 PM. Tours can be started or resumed at any time throughout that period. The latest suggested tour start time is 4 PM.

What to Know

  • Vintage Rail Car Tour tickets are for the walking tour only and are not valid toward the 55-minute, 7-mile train ride. Consider purchasing a package.
  • Visitors to Mid-Continent during these dates can still take the free, self-guided walking tour of the museum displays; however, the self-guided tour does not permit access inside the cars featured in the Vintage Rail Car Tour.
