You step off the open-air Sky Gondola and the rainforest reaches up, leaves brushing the cable like hands. A distant river dares you with its rush; the canopy above murmurs and the air smells of wet earth and orchid. Veragua Rainforest occupies the hills of Limón on Costa Rica’s Caribbean slope, where primary forest still holds 300-year-old trees and a layered understory alive with frogs and hummingbirds.
