Your English speaking tour guide will meet you at the Port, from where you will head to Piazzale Roma on your private luxury vehicle, for this trip in Venice’ art and food culture.
Your walking tour starts with a stroll along the quaint, narrow streets of Venice, to the Scuola Grande di San Rocco.
This venue is possibly one of the most significant sites in Venice. Built in the 16th Century and frequented by the wealthy families of Venice, it was used to host charity events and take care of the indigent, ill and poor. These walls are the guardians of masterpieces of authors as Tintoretto or Bellini.
Another stop will be Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. A majestic Gothic building, absolutely breathtaking, adorned with impressive details, typical of the period. You will fully appreciate such graphic and unique decorations. Enjoy the outstanding Assumption of the Virgin Mary, by Tiziano, Titian.
Your next stop will be at the Rialto Marketplace; this is one of the most scenic venues. Walking through the farmer’s market, between produce stands and the fresh fish stands, you will head to a Venetian Osteria where you can enjoy yourself trying out the local, traditional Venetian appetizers, similar to Spanish tapas. Usually paired with a glass of wine for a perfect aperitivo! You cannot end the day, without wandering through the narrow paths of Canal Grande.
At the end of your tour in Venice art and food culture, in case you’d like to visit the City on your own a little longer before returning to the cruise ship, your guide will give you all the directions you’ll need on how to reach the Port, along with some suggestions on where you could stop to eat some local dishes or other venues you can visit.
Upon request we can provide private transportation back to the cruise terminal at the end of the tour.
