You start on the gray morning quay in Zadar and, within an hour, the Adriatic slips away below you as the road climbs into the Velebit massif. The quad rumbles under your seat; windmills turn like metronomes; the guide points and the coastline unfolds — Kornati, Pašman, Ugljan — three seas of blue threaded with islands.
