U.S.S. Constitution Turnaround Sail aboard Schooner Adirondack III

Join us for the 2.5-3 hour long sail on July 4th to view the turnaround of the U.S.S. Constitution, the oldest (1797) actively commissioned naval vessel in the world. Experience this yearly event like you never have before aboard Adirondack III, a classic 80-foot pilot schooner. She features comfortable seating and a brisk ride, as we are able to view the turnaround of the U.S.S. Constitution.

You won't want to miss this truly unique and special event! The turnaround takes place once a year to celebrate our nation's birthday. The U.S.S. Constitution will sail out into Boston Harbor where she'll exchange a 21-gun salute with Castle Island's Fort Independence.

Notable Sites:

  • One of the first sites you’ll see on our day sail is the Boston Seaport District. There's much to be seen here as the area features many newly constructed buildings, as well as the classic structures that originally comprised Boston’s waterfront community.
  • We will point out The Moakley Federal Courthouse at Fan Pier, the World Trade Center, as well as Harpoon Brewery
  • As our trip extends, we will sail through the Inner Harbor Islands, getting as close as we can to some of our historical islands including: Castle Island featuring Fort Independence and the Donald McKay Monument, Spectacle Island, and Long Island with the Long Island Head Light House.

About Adirondack III

Inspired by the pilot schooners of the 1890’s, Classic Harbor Line’s Adirondack III is 80-ft in length, features teak decks, mahogany-trimmings, complete with 2 bathrooms, and just under 2,000 square feet of canvas to escort you through Boston’s historic harbor! Though it is a light and lively sailing vessel, it is also quite comfortable, with ample deck space and seating for up to 41. It was designed and built by Scarano Boat Building of Albany, NY for taking groups of people on spectacular sightseeing adventures.

Sailing in this schooner is a delight. She moves through the water efficiently and beautifully; we take great pride in sharing her with you. The Adirondack III is operated by Coast Guard-certified captains and an extremely friendly and talented crew.
