Overview:

Learn to Sail – US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification

Designed for beginners with no prior experience, this course covers all the essential knowledge and skills needed to earn your US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification. Our certified instructors will guide you from the ground up, ensuring you develop the confidence and ability to safely skipper a tiller-steered keelboat (up to 27 feet) in familiar waters with winds ranging from 5 to 15 knots.

Please read your Basic Keelboat textbook before class. Textbooks are available at the Windworks office—free for members; non-members must purchase separately.

If you would like to join the Windworks Membership Club by the last day of your Basic Keelboat class, we will deduct the difference of the non member vs member price OFF the initiation fee. This offer expires 7 days after your BK class.

Prerequisite:

Must be 18 years or over to take this class. It is not a guarantee you will pass the Basic Keelboat series. If your US Sailing instructor determines you need more time on the water, you will be rescheduled to one of our Basic Keelboat Makeup classes. These are an additional cost.

Tipping:

Tipping your instructor is customary within the boating industry and it is greatly valued and appreciated!

Adventure Tips

Arrive Early to Prepare

Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to familiarize yourself with the boat and safety briefing.
