Balneário Camboriú grew from coastal fishing settlements into a resort town in the 20th century; Unipraias was developed to link the urban shore to protected Atlantic Forest areas and isolated coves.
The park emphasizes staying on trails to protect Atlantic Forest fragments and coastal dune systems; visitors should avoid feeding wildlife and use designated paths to reduce erosion.
