Uncompahgre river runs straight through our home town, Montrose. It is a great fishery with healthy biomass of aquatic insects. During summer, the Gunnison Tunnel provides cold water to the Uncompahgre, providing high but healthy water condition for abundance of Brown and Rainbow trout. During Winter, the Tunnel shuts off and makes wading the Uncompahgre a lot easier. Fishing is great all year round. A half day trip is a good fit for those with limited time, or someone getting on the water for the first time. A knowledgeable guide will help you learn the sport and build your fly fishing skills on our local Uncompahgre River. For those learning to fish, we enjoy having beginners in the shop and on the river. Our guides are patient and glad to customize the trip to the experience level of the angler.
