A hot puff of air meets you as the minibus eases off the highway and into the shade of the Eastern Arc—tall, wet forest that seems to breathe. On day one you climb the Uluguru foothills with views back toward Morogoro and the Kilombero valley; by day two the trail opens to the thunder of Udzungwa’s falls and a plunge pool that invites a cooling swim. Rivers push you forward here, carving steep gorges through ancient crystalline rocks and feeding broad wetlands below.
