Udawalawe National Park was established after the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir to provide sanctuary for wildlife displaced by the reservoir and to protect the catchment area.
Park operations emphasize minimal disturbance—jeep routes and viewing distances are managed to reduce stress on animals, and local guides often participate in community-based conservation and elephant monitoring.
Kottawatta Safari Tours operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
