Adventure tips

Start early for calm lightBegin the tour mid-morning to avoid peak heat and capture Lake Pichola with softer light; mornings are quieter at the City Palace.

Carry modest clothingTemples and some palace areas require covered shoulders and knees—pack a light scarf or long shirt.

Stay hydrated between stopsCarry at least 1–1.5 L water per person—shops are available but carrying water avoids delays during short site visits.

Confirm boat timing in advanceBoat rides to Jagmandir are optional and depend on schedules—book or confirm with the driver early in the day to secure slots.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Good soles and ankle support help on uneven palace steps and lakeside paths.
Wide-brim sun hat and sunscreen: Protects from strong sun during midday roadside stops and lakeside walks.
Reusable water bottle with filter: Keeps you hydrated and reduces single-use plastic while touring.
Light scarf or shawl: Useful for modest dress at temples and for light wind at Monsoon Palace.
