Ubud’s landscape is shaped by the subak irrigation system and a deeply rooted Hindu tradition—Tirta Empul dates to the 10th century and the region practices Tri Hita Karana, linking people, nature and the divine.
The Ubud Monkey Forest runs conservation and research programs funded in part by entrance fees; visitors are encouraged to follow signage and not feed wildlife to reduce stress on local populations.
