About This Adventure

Solar Whisper is the only zero-emission boat on the Daintree River. Quietly glide up to crocodiles & other wildlife without scaring them or hurting their habitat.

Duration

2 Hours The cruise is not suitable for children with short attention spans but if you want to bring a child, please call to arrange.

About

We have a high success rate* for spotting crocodiles, excellent birding opportunities and other wildlife possibilities such as snakes, frogs, crabs and fish. It is a natural habitat, so every cruise is different.

Your experienced interpretive guide is accustomed to the nuances of the river, rain-forest and mangroves and can spot an incredible variety of wildlife that you would not necessarily see on your own. The boat is fitted with the unique "CROC CAM" to help show well-camouflaged crocodiles & wildlife.

This is a small, family-operated business practicing true Eco-Tourism.

*In the warmer months the river temperature rises and the crocodiles are much harder to see as they spend most of their time in the water. If no crocodiles are spotted we offer free return tours until we have some success.

Adventure Tips

Bring a telephoto lens

Crocodiles and birds are often best photographed from a distance—zoom lenses help capture details without disturbing wildlife.

Wear insect repellent

The tropical environment attracts mosquitoes and sandflies, especially near mangroves; protect yourself during the cruise.

Dress for sun protection

Even on cloudy days, UV exposure is significant; bring a hat, sunglasses, and lightweight long sleeves to stay safe on the water.

Stay seated and quiet

Minimize boat movement and noise to avoid scaring wildlife and improve your chances of sightings.
