You step out of the 4x4 onto thin air and a high plain where wind and stone seem to trade stories. The northern face of El Misti rises above Arequipa like a strict teacher—clean lines of ash and sand, two craters carved by fire, and a skyline stripped of distraction. On day one the route climbs steadily to Monte Blanco base camp at about 4,810 m; the trail is loose, sandy and occasionally ashy, each switchback a careful conversation with breath and rhythm.

You don’t need technical climbing experience, but you must be comfortable with long high‑altitude hikes, use of basic crampons when required, and prolonged exposure to thin air.
El Misti reaches about 5,800 m; expect ~6.5–7 hours from base camp to crater rim on summit day and several hours descending.
The tour is not recommended for those with cardiovascular issues, spinal problems, or pregnant travelers; participants should be in excellent physical condition.
