Morning light slices the canyon walls as the minivan descends toward the Charyn observation deck — wind-sculpted spires and red cliffs stand like an audience watching the river below. On the first day the group moves from panoramic lookout to the Valley of Castles, where rock layers reveal the slow work of water and time while a thermos of hot tea warms cold fingers.
