3–4 hours
Suitable for most fitness levels; participants should be comfortable entering and exiting the water and able to swim short distances.
Leave Tropea’s cliffside houses behind for a 3.5-hour small-boat run to Capo Vaticano. Snorkel in emerald coves, explore skeleton caves, and sip a local aperitif while your skipper guides you to water-access-only beaches.
The boat slips free from the marina at Tropea and the town’s white houses lean back from the sea as if watching you depart. Salt lifts on the air and the skipper eases the throttle; the coastline unfurls in a sequence of cliffs, hidden coves, and water so clear it dares you to jump in. Over the next three-and-a-half hours you move through a series of small worlds: the dramatic bay beneath Tropea’s cliff, the secret Skeleton Cave, emerald Grotticelle, and the sand-swept inlets of Capo Vaticano.

Be at the Sea Sports office on pier n.1 at least 15 minutes before departure to complete check-in and gear fitting.
Apply biodegradable sunscreen and a light rash guard to protect your skin and the Posidonia seagrass beds.
Bring a dry bag for keys, phone, and a camera—waves and quick swims make loose items easy to lose.
Choose morning departures for calmer water and better visibility; trips may be canceled in rough seas.
The coast served as an ancient maritime route; nearby Forum Erculis marks where Roman trade met the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The area’s Posidonia meadows are ecologically important—use reef-safe sunscreen and avoid touching marine life to reduce impact.
Comfortable swimwear and a towel for cooling off and drying after snorkeling.
