The air bites clean and thin as the van eases away from Tromsø, headlights cutting across open snowfields toward the islands. By the time you strap on snowshoes, silence has a shape: wind through pines, distant surf against skerries, and the slow crunch of fresh snow underfoot. The trail climbs steadily to Ørnfløya — literally "Eagle Rock" — a low, exposed ridge that throws wide views over Sommarøy, Hillesøy and the frozen channels below.
