A wind-swept ridge opens ahead as the combi climbs out of Ushuaia and into the Tierra Mayor valley. You step out onto stony peat, breathe cold, clear air, and begin a compact trek up toward Garibaldi Pass. The mountains push forward like slow giants; lakes Escondido and Fagnano sit below, dark and patient.

The trek is roughly 4 km round trip with uneven terrain and some steep sections; it’s rated easy-to-moderate but requires sure footing and a basic level of fitness.
If wind or rain makes rowing unsafe you’ll be offered an alternate 1-hour forest hike to the Olivia River waterfalls and other nearby viewpoints.
