You step out of a polished SUV onto a bluff where wind and bay meet, and the water dares you to look both ways. East and West arms of Grand Traverse Bay sit below like two clean horizons; vines slope away, rows aligned by glacial logic. The guide gestures toward a tasting room and the day opens—slow, intentional, flavored by tannin and conversation.
easy.

Groups of six or more are typically given private vehicles and can often suggest stops; private tours are customizable based on availability.
Food is not included; many wineries offer charcuterie, snack packs or menus for purchase—plan to buy snacks at stops or bring light snacks if allowed.
Old Mission Peninsula’s modern wine culture grew from 20th-century plantings; cool-climate varieties like Riesling led a regional revival and produced notable ice wines.
Many vineyards practice careful land management to protect thin glacial soils and shoreline waters; minimize impact by staying on paths and disposing of waste responsibly.
