OBJECTIVE: Feel like you are working hard where others seem to glide? Do you tend to leave your team literally in the dust (cloud)? Are you starting to do more challenging dives that require finer control, such as photography, scientific, or about to embark on the technical diving route?

Then this is a great place to start your journey to better control in the water, improved SAC rate, overall comfort, conservation of the environment, and safety.

DURATION:

  • 1 hour Classroom
  • 2 hour Pool

SCHEDULE:

  • 6PM - 9PM

TECHNIQUES/SKILLS: Basic Finning Techniques Advanced Finning Techniques

  • Modified Flutter
  • Modified Frog Kick
  • Fin-Only Pivots
    • One Fin (turn left or right)
    • Two Fin (use in tandem)
  • Backfinning

We start with some dry land demos and practice, using a combination of video feedback and hands-on coaching to talk about and practice the movements and how to use our fins for maximum efficiency.

Then we hop in the pool and practice what we've learned so far, on the surface, so that we can see what we are doing with our fins and talk about refinements.

Once we have that squared away, it's time to take the party underwater! We gear up in our SCUBA kit and practice our new and/or improved fin kicks. Once students have the techniques down, they will be given various challenges to test their mastery.
