Ride Pace & Safety

Our trail rides are walking-only to ensure the safety and comfort of both horse and rider. While our wranglers provide a fun and engaging experience, we do not offer trotting or loping during rides. Please also note that multiple groups may be on a single ride, which helps maintain a safe and enjoyable pace for everyone.

Weather Policy

We closely monitor local weather conditions and will notify you by 8 AM on the day of your ride if excessive heat, wind, or rain require us to cancel and reschedule. Your safety and comfort, as well as the well-being of our horses, are our top priorities.

Safety & Rider Considerations

At San Diego Trail Company, the safety of our guests, staff, and horses is our highest priority. Certain medical conditions, recent surgeries, disabilities, or other health concerns can make horseback riding unsafe. If you require additional assistance or a more hands-on riding experience, we must be informed in advance so we can determine whether we can safely accommodate your needs.

If you have had a recent surgery, a chronic physical condition, or any impairment that may affect your comfort, balance, or ability to control a horse, please disclose this before your ride. While we will do our best to accommodate individual circumstances, we reserve the right to adjust or deny a ride if a condition has not been disclosed in advance for safety reasons.

Horseback riding engages muscles in ways that may be unfamiliar, and we understand that aches and pains happen. However, we ask all riders to use discretion and prioritize their health and the safety of the entire group. If you have any concerns about your ability to ride, please let us know at the time of booking so we can make the best possible arrangements.

Weight Limit & Rider Safety

We take rider and horse safety seriously and will verify weight limits on-site at our discretion. While we strive to be flexible and tailor each ride to your needs, we ask for rider weights at the time of booking. We reserve the right to decline a rider if we cannot safely accommodate them due to horse availability, saddle fit, or concerns about accuracy on the day of the ride.

Our horses and saddles come in a range of sizes, but we may not always have the right fit for every rider. If you are unsure whether we can accommodate you, please reach out before booking. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities!
