Prepare for an unforgettable off-road adventure as we explore the western and central wonders of São Miguel, traveling through breathtaking landscapes, volcanic craters, and pristine lagoons. After pick-up, we begin our journey towards the west of the island, making our first stop at the Pico do Carvão viewpoint. From here, you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery in every shade, offering panoramic views of both the North and South coasts of São Miguel. From here, the adventure truly begins as we take the off-road trail to Pico da Cruz up to 856m altitude, where you’ll witness 360-degree views of the entire island and the Sete Cidades caldera in all its glory. Following the mountain ridge, we explore the volcanic crater of Sete Cidades, stopping at the famous Cumeeiras Viewpoint, where the landscape will leave you speechless. Descending into the heart of the crater, we take time to explore the blue and green twin lakes, embracing their natural beauty before enjoying a traditional lunch in the parish of Sete Cidades. Leaving Sete Cidades, we journey along the southwest coast, where the blue and crystalline Atlantic waters provide a stunning backdrop. We then arrive at Ribeira Grande, where we suggest a stop at the famous Santa Bárbara Beach, a black sand paradise and home to a World Surfing Championship stage.
After exploring the historic center of Ribeira Grande, we continue to the Ponta do Cintrão viewpoint, where rugged cliffs meet the untamed beauty of the North coast. At last, we reach the breathtaking Lagoa do Fogo, one of São Miguel’s most iconic landmarks. From this high-altitude viewpoint, gaze upon the expansive volcanic crater, where the intense blue of the waters and emerald green landscape contrast. From here, we also admire stunning views over Lagoa, Ponta Delgada, and Ribeira Grande.
